December News
First I would like to
thank all of our families for helping to make our Thanksgiving Feast a joyful
learning experience for our entire class. The children were truly proud to
share their hard work with you.
While preparing their
feast, the children learned many interesting facts about North America. They
learned how the Native Americans helped the pilgrims when they came to North
America. They learned how grateful the Pilgrims were for the help of their new
friends.
This month, we will learn
about the continent of Australia and the country of New Zealand. We will
discuss why we celebrate Christmas and how good it feels to give gifts to
others. We will also be learning about the parts of the fish, sink and float,
and many other interesting facts about our world.
Thursday, December 6th
9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Go Like the Wind
will be having an Open House. We need parent ambassadors to greet people, share
their experience @ GLTW and or show people around the school. Please contact
myself or Sam Myers to volunteer. This time will be applied to your parent
volunteer hours.
On Tuesday,
December 18th at 2:00 p.m., our third year preprimary students
will be participating in the Elementary Christmas Program. The following
children are third year students: Edward, Asha , Jenna, Emily, and Shefra. All
are welcome and encouraged to come and enjoy the performance.
Our Christmas Tea will be
Friday, December 21st at 10:00 a.m. We will be practicing our
Christmas Carols and will start preparing delicious sweet treats for our tea
next week. We invite all who can attend to come and share in our celebration of
Jesus’ Birthday. The children will prepare a special Birthday Cake for Jesus.
We will start our Caroling with the “Happy Birthday” song to remind us of the
reason for the season. We will end our celebration at 11:30 a.m.
Please remember those
labeled hats, coats, mittens, and boots in the coming days of cold weather.
Mrs. Feller, Miss Heesook, Miss Marj and I try to keep extras around, but the
children are not always happy about wearing clothing that does not belong to
them. When in doubt, send extra clothing. We can always take clothing off if
it is too warm.
Please remember that
Friday, December 21st is a half-day. There will be no school again
until Monday, January 7th.
Please be sure to mark on the Special Day Care Sign-Up Sheet whether or not your
child will need Special Day Care on the days it is offered.
Have a Wonderful Holiday!
November News
The children have been busy learning new math and language
work, different facts about the world, the cylinder, the cube of the Trinomial,
rough & smooth, just to name a few.
Our Halloween celebration was great fun. The children
enjoyed the many activities we had that day. Thank you so very much to all of
the parents who helped out. We could not have had as many activities or as much
fun without your help.
Me Bag: The first Me Bag is this Friday. Please check
your calendar to see when your child is scheduled to present their bag.
Thanksgiving Feast: Mark your calendar. Our annual
Thanksgiving Feast will be Monday, November 19th at 10:00 a.m.
All parents are invited to feast on the fruits of our labor. The children will
be starting next week to prepare the delicious Thanksgiving meal. We will be
making roasted turkey, bread stuffing, corn muffins, potatoes, cranberry sauce,
sweet potato casserole, turkey noodle soup and delicious pumpkin pie.
There is a sign-up sheet for food donations in the hallway
beside our classroom. Please bring in the donations AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
We plan to start preparing food as soon as the donations come in.
Please remember that there is a half day on Wednesday,
November 21st, and no school on Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd.
Grand Parents Week: November 5th- 9th
is Grand Parents week at Go Like The Wind. I would like to take this
opportunity of invite all grandparents and “special people” in your child’s life
to come and visit our classroom. The children will be sending out an invitation
to their grandparents next week. In the mean time please feel free to sign your
child’s special people up for their time to visit.
The Weather Changes Daily: Better safe than sorry. Please
pay close attention when dressing your child in the morning. We will be going
out for recess every day. Please make sure all of your child’s articles of
clothing are labeled with your child’s name. It is very difficult to keep track
of all of the mittens, boots, hats, jackets and scarves without names written on
them.
I will be scheduling observation times the first two weeks
of December. I will have sign-up sheets in the hallway beside your classroom.
Please feel free to sign up for a time that is best for you. This is an
opportunity for you to experience first-hand the environment your child is in
every day.
Mrs. Feller, Miss Heesook, Miss Marj and I enjoy our time
with your children.
Thank you again for sharing them with us.
