We hope everyone enjoyed the
mid-winter break.
We will be
learning about the parts of the fish and the oceans of the world this month.
We’ll talk about and name all of the different oceans and investigate some
shells and various ocean animals. We are even planning to make our own Great
Barrier Reef. Our continent for the month will be Australia. We will learn
about various countries and animals of Australia. The flags of Australia will
be available for the children to color. We will provide cooking projects that
are common in Australia.
Easter

December Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We hope everyone had a wonderful
Thanksgiving. Thank you to all the parents who came and also those who
contributed to our Thanksgiving feast. The children were excited to share what
they had made and very thankful that you could be there.
The weather is turning colder.
Please send hats, snow pants, gloves and boots. Your child’s boots will be
placed outside the door to our class on the boot rack. This will help keep the
snow out of the classroom. Please label all of your child’s winter attire.
We are studying South America this
month. We will learn about the animals that live there and various customs
unique to that continent. The Rainforest will be the focus of our science shelf
for the month of December.
We would like to celebrate Kwanza
and Hanukah, so if there are any parents willing to assist us in a small
presentation regarding these celebrations, please let us know.
The Kindergarten Nativity play is
on Tuesday December 18th at 2:00. The children have been preparing
and sound great! Kindergarten parents are invited to attend!
Our last day will be December
21st. School is dismissed at 11:45 AM. Daycare is available. If any children
are leaving before the 21st, please let us know. That day we will be having a
small celebration and we would like to give our gift to them before they leave.
Please pick up a hat, gloves or a
scarf for our PTSA tree located in the Great Room. You can also leave donations
for SOS on the table between our classroom and the kitchen.
Happy Holidays!
Miss Katie

Dear Parents,
The weather will be
changing very quickly. Please remember to send your child with appropriate
attire: hats, gloves and jacket. We will be going outside at least once a day.
It is very helpful if you label all items sent to school.
The children are
starting to settle into the routine of class. We would like to thank the parents
for being patient during the changes. Your children are wonderful and we can’t
wait to speak with all of you at conference time. A schedule will be posted for
parents to sign up for a conference time.
This month we are
talking about the continents, plants versus animals, and the parts of a leaf.
We are learning colors in sign language for the extended day children.
We have started show and
tell on Friday mornings. Your child may bring in something special (no toys
please) to share with the group. Thanks to all of our parent volunteers so
far! It’s great to have you in the classroom! Enjoy the fall weather and we’ll
see you all at school!
Thanks,
Miss Katie, Miss Rachel
and Miss Padma
*A great way to bring
your child some added trust and responsibility at home is to move their cups,
bowls and other dining utensils into a low cupboard so they can access them when
they need to.*
