Ms. Kathy has been teaching in the Montessori environment for many years. She has experience in the pre-primary level up through middle school where she is enjoying the energy, wisdom, and confidence of Montessori adolescents. She has undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan and her Montessori certification from MMTEC in Michigan and CMTE in New York. Both of her children attended Montessori schools from the age of 2 up through the 8th grade.
Her favorite thing about Montessori is the chance to work directly with the variety of learning styles that students bring into a classroom and supporting that richness so that it can enhance a whole community. The Montessori environment helps to build independence, a joy of learning, and the ability to be a self-directed learner which necessary in today’s world. She loves being able to keep up that learning in herself as well.
Ms. Kathy’s other interests include reading, gardening, kayaking, and bike riding. She also enjoys attending art and architecture lectures in downtown Ann Arbor, following local bands, and watching old black and white movies, especially mysteries.
