Montessori Diversity

“This is education, understood as a help to life; an education from birth, which feeds a peaceful revolution and unites all in a common aim, attracting them as to a single centre. Mothers, fathers, politicians: all must combine in their respect and help for this delicate work of formation, which the little child carries on in the depth of a profound psychological mystery, under the tutelage of an inner guide. This is the bright new hope for mankind.” – Maria Montessori

A passionate advocate for peace, Maria Montessori and her teachings promote diversity. At Go Like the Wind, we strive to reflect the diversity of the world around us. Through hands-on activities, we nurture the child’s connection to this diverse world. Children are given the opportunity to explore the foundations of other people and nations, learn about and respect their traditions, as well as understand and appreciate cultural differences – both within the classroom and in their world as a whole. Through fostering the understanding and implementation of the value of different cultures, children learn to accept and respect people and their traditions from all over the world.

Through the learning environment provided in the classroom, children are encouraged to open their minds and hearts toward people of all nationalities. Though here at Go Like the Wind our mission is to provide the highest quality Montessori education within a Christian environment that fosters a love for one another through God, we strive to provide a nurturing environment that allows for people of all faiths to feel welcome. Together we celebrate various cultural events and encourage family members and friends to share their culture with us, introducing our children to new foods, customs, and languages.

The International Festival here at Go Like the Wind is one of the most important events of the year. This festival gives us an opportunity to explore and learn about other cultures, as well as to highlight and appreciate the tremendous diversity at our school. All are welcome to join us as we enjoy the traditional foods, cultures, and folklore that make up our school community.

“An education capable of saving humanity is no small undertaking; it involves the spiritual development of man, the enhancement of his value as an individual, and the preparation of young people to understand the times in which they live.”
